Job Description:

Position SummaryReporting to Manager, Ramp Operations, the Baggage Agent is responsible for ensuring efficient and secure baggage handling processes. Baggage Agents are responsible for accurately sorting baggage according to flight number and baggage priority levels (Confirmed, Standby, Space Available). The Baggage Agent also operates the x-ray machine to screen baggage for contraband and illicit substances. This position emphasizes adherence to customer service excellence and on-time performance.Personal CharacteristicsHighly flexible, with the ability to respond quickly in a dynamic environmentProfessional and respectful, with a positive work attitudeTimely with a high level of commitment to on-time performance is essentialMotivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a teamEffective verbal and written communication skillsHigh level of respect, understanding and regard for First Nations communitiesAble to think critically and act logically to evaluate situations and provide sound judgment.High level of integrity, confidentiality and accountabilityAble to deal with confidential information and documentation with discretion, sensitivity and tact.Strong attention to detail.Customer-focused with a dedication to providing excellent service.Key Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesAccurately sort baggage based on flight number and baggage priorityOperate x-ray machine to screen baggage for contraband and illicit substancesCollaborate with other Baggage Agents and relevant personnel to meet deadlines and ensure smooth operationsMaintain strict adherence to on-time performance policies and proceduresActively participate in the Company’s Safety Management SystemPerform additional duties as assignedMinimum Education, Experience and CertificationsHigh school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalentPrevious experience in warehouse operations or baggage handling considered an assetSuccessful completion of a Xray Screening Training, achieved through participation in a recognized training program, or enrollment in our in-house Xray Screening TrainingMust be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizationsIndigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an assetWorking ConditionsPhysically able to perform all listed job dutiesTravel by aircraft and other means as required by roleUse of safety equipment as required and applicable to roleAble to lift and carry up to 50lbsMay be required to stand for several hours a dayVarious shifts at a fast pace in order to meet service level requirements of the airlineAble to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
