Job overview and responsibilities
This position is responsible for the operation of machinery that performs machining in metallic structures. Planning, turning, drilling, and grinding are examples of machinery processes that are part of the work scope under the Machinery Technician responsibility.
- Works on machinery workshop handling all machining process to support aircraft maintenance heavy check
- Fabrication, grinding and repair of metal structures is part of the regular job accountabilities
- Operate lathe machine and measure work pieces verifying dimensions using appropriate tools
- Be familiar with boring, drilling, reaming, threading, and tapping operations
- Detecting malfunctions, replacing worn tools, cleaning debris from machine
- Report any faulty operation of equipment or defective materials to the area supervisor
- Operate lifting devices for movement of materials and other equipment as needed
- Be familiar with the preparation of tools for machining
- Load feed mechanism by lifting stock into position
- Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, and threading
- Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly
- Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample work pieces
- Professionalism, integrity and work ethic while possessing a visionary skill set that will successfully carry the team into the future.
- Must comply with Brazilian Norm NR -12 training and certification
QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- High school diploma or equivalent in Machining Operation technical course with emphasis in planning, turning, drilling, and grinding
- Local driver´s license
- Must be legally authorized to work in Brazil without sponsorship
- Previous NR-1
- 3 years’ experience in aeronautical industry
- Must have extensive knowledge of machinery operation with emphasis on the aeronautical industry
- Must have experience operating lathe machine, milling machine, vertical and horizontal band saw, drill and treading machine, hydraulic press and oven operation for heat treatment
- Mechanical problem-solving ability and troubleshooting skills a must
- Must be able to read a tape measure, verify dimensions, use a straightedge and other measuring devices
- Have the knowledge of machine drawings, fit and tolerances
- Must be able to operate lifting devices
- Must be legally authorized to work in Brazil for any employer without sponsorship
- Must be able to read and understand work instructions, drawings, technical manuals and standards in English.
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded.
Unless subject to a collective bargaining agreement in the country to which an employee is being transferred; the employee retains their original date of employment and company seniority in the new country. Upon transfer, the employee is removed from payroll and benefits in former country and appropriately placed in the salary range and payroll / benefits systems of the new country.
Human Resources will assist with the terms and conditions of employment in light of labor agreements, collective agreements, country work rules and labor laws. In the new country, the employee is reinstated using the same employee id, date of employment and company seniority dates.
