Contracts Specialist I
Kaman Air Vehicles is searching for a motivated Contracts Specialist I to join our team in Bloomfield, CT.    This position will be hybrid.    The Contracts Specialist I will work under limited direction of the Contracts Manager and will negotiate & administer a variety of contracts of small to medium dollar value with various government agencies or other industrial firms.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates activity of all departments within Kaman, concerning proposal(s) and contracts commensurate with signing authority, to arrive at price, schedule, and terms acceptable to the company. 
 - During negotiations, must be prepared to justify projected labor rates and burdens, man-hours, and material estimates.
 - Reviews purchase orders and contracts for compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and risk management standards; Issues Sales Orders describing work to be performed, delivery schedules, any unusual terms or conditions of the contract, and assigning responsibility within Kaman. 
 - Monitors performance under each contact to ensure that all terms and conditions are being met; submits and negotiates changes or modifications to contract when requested by the customer or desired by company.
 - Provides internal guidance on contract interpretation and obligations, engaging corporate legal counsel as necessary.
 - Raises internal requests for cost estimates, submits proposal(s), negotiates proposal(s), negotiates a final contract, ensuring that terms are fair and acceptable to management.
 - Originates or attends meetings with various operating department personnel and/or procuring agency to discuss all aspects of proposal or contract, or to solve problems that arise in the performance of the contact. 
 - Maintains close liaison with customer throughout life of contract.
 - Reviews and negotiates Non-Disclosure Agreements
 - Prepares periodic reports showing funding, delinquencies, Sales Order status, etc., to keep Management fully informed of progress.    Reports on internal key performance metrics (KPI’s) as requested.
 - Enters and maintains various internal databases for sales and other tracking purposes.
 - Effectively and appropriately communicates with customers and various levels of company personnel. 
 - Performs similar and other related duties as instructed or required.
 
Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of progressive related experience in Contracts Administration or Purchasing.
 - Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Business Administration or Accounting   preferred.
 - Strong experience in contract administration and developing skills in negotiation.
 - Experience in Salesforce software and EPICOR ERP a plus.
